What is the Orbit
The Orbit plots your Activity, Recovery and Readiness against each other, making it easy to see everything in one place.
The name is fitting, as each of the Eclipse circles creates its own unique orbit line on the graph. Just like a spinning solar system, you can follow the Orbit lines to identify any related trends between the metrics. Questions like "is my recovery impacted when I increase my training" and so on can all be found here.
Tip: the dark centre of the Orbit graph corresponds with the Eclipse balance. When any of the Activity, Recovery or Readiness lines are in this dark centre section, they are in balance. When all lines are in the dark centre, your Eclipse is in total balance. When out of balance, the circles are enlarged to draw your attention to them.
Swipe across the Orbit graph to see up to 6 months history. As you swipe across different days, the mini Eclipse image in the top right corner will auto update. This provide's a quick visual of your Eclipse balance at that point in time.
Orbit Gauges
The gauges are a reflection of your Eclipse circles, consisting of Activity, Recovery and Readiness.ย
Tap any of the gauges to be directed to that page. For example, you may have noticed something in your past recovery trend while looking at the Orbit graph, tapping on the Recovery gauge will take me to that exact day in the Peak Recovery view.
Tip: swipe across the screen and the mini Eclipse image in the top right corner will auto update. This provide's a quick visual of your Eclipse balance at that point in time.
Orbit Mini-Gauges
At the bottom of the screen in the pop-up panel is a selection of small gauges, called the 'ECLIPSE' gauge and '7D TREND' gauge.
Tap on any of these mini-gauges and the entire Orbit graph and views will all update with that selected metric as the focal point.
Eclipse Gauge - this is the overall Eclipse balance for each individual day. Depending where the white needle is pointing, this indicates if your Eclipse is in balance or not.
7D Trend Gauge - this is a rolling 7 day average across your recovery and readiness metrics. Activity stays the same across both gauges, as it already uses a rolling 7 day trend. The '7D Trend' gauge is best used for really understanding your health changes, as it will have smaller variances to baselines than day to day measures.
The '7D Trend' gauge allows you to visualise small changes more easily over a longer period.
In this example, I can see when my 1 week holiday started in April my activity decreased but my recovery and readiness increased at a similar rate. As I went back into training my recovery started to dip but I maintained good readiness.
Visualising the changes with the 7 day rolling averages is much more effective.
Wellness Report
What makes viewing trends even more worthwhile, is when we can add and review context that happened at that time. For example, my activity trend dropped as I was healing from a sore ankle, or my recovery was amazing because I just got a new bed.
Below the Orbit gauges you can see the Wellness Report, which adds to value and meaning to your data. This information comes from the Daily Wellness Survey that is found in the Inbox. You can also edit an existing entry or input a new one directly from here, using the notepad icon in the corner (see below image).
TIP: put your thinking cap on when setting up your customised tags in the Daily Wellness Survey (found in Inbox), as these can add lots of benefits to the Orbit trends and also in the Insights module. Tags like "Early Bed" or "Good Nutrition" can help make entry super quick and also provide extra insights when viewing data trends.
